Is MDA legal in Iraq?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified August 25, 2026
Legal status
Controlled. MDA is a 1971 Convention Schedule I substance and Iraq is a party to that Convention. The domestic statute is the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017; no official Iraqi publication of its schedules was reachable during this pass, so MDA's domestic schedule entry is left to confirmation.
Consequences if caught
NOT CONFIRMED from a primary source. Law No. 50 of 2017 is not carried on UNODC SHERLOC and the Iraqi Ministry of Health portal serves only an authentication gateway. The Article 27 capital description previously carried here came from an NGO death-penalty overview and is withdrawn.
If prescribed or medical
No lawful prescription route. MDA is a Schedule I substance under the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances - the schedule reserved for substances with no recognised medical use - and no country anywhere furnished INCB an MDA assessment for 2026, while the closely related MDMA and MDPV each appear dozens of times in the same return. There is no licit MDA supply to prescribe from.
Documentation
No lawful personal import.
