Is LSD legal in Turkey?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified September 20, 2026
Legal status
LSD is a controlled substance in Turkey and the dossier carries it under the schedule name lsd, a VERIFIED placement in the classification decisions made under article 19 of Law No. 2313 on the Control of Narcotic Substances. Article 19 is the whole of the mechanism for a substance of this date, and its wording is worth reading because it is what every modern entry in this corpus depends on: substances outside the article 1 list which scientific examination shows to be harmful and to produce toxicomania are determined and announced as falling under the Law «Cumhurbaşkanı karariyle», by Presidential decision, by the health ministry. The consolidated statute footnotes ten such decisions between 22 May 2013 and Presidential Decision No. 10851 of 9 January 2026 and reproduces none of their annexed lists, which is why a placement in this corpus is stated by name rather than quoted from a schedule. LSD is not named in the article 188(4)(a) uplift list of Penal Code No. 5237.
Consequences if caught
Capital exposure: none. The cited instruments give no per-substance numeric quantity threshold; purpose and circumstances are assessed case by case, and the ceiling is 30 years under article 188(1) of Penal Code No. 5237, «yirmi yıldan otuz yıla kadar hapis ve ikibin günden yirmibin güne kadar adlî para cezası», for unlicensed manufacture, import or export. Article 188(3) sets not less than ten years for domestic sale, supply, dispatch, transport, storage, purchase, acceptance and possession. The absence of any weight rule matters more for LSD than for anything else in this corpus, because an active dose weighs micrograms and a sheet of blotter weighs almost nothing, so the count of units and the surrounding circumstances are what the court works from. Article 190(2) reaches a separate kind of conduct that attaches to this substance more often than to others, setting five to ten years and a fine of one thousand to ten thousand days for a person who openly encourages the use of a narcotic or stimulant substance or makes a publication of that character. Article 191(1) sets two to five years on the user side with the deferral and supervision regime of 191(2) and 191(3).
If prescribed or medical
There is no prescription route for LSD in Turkey. It has no marketed Turkish medicine, the dossier recorded no prescription instrument for this row, and research access abroad does not transfer to a traveller. Article 188(6) of the Penal Code extends the trafficking paragraphs to substances whose production is permission bound or whose sale is prescription bound and which produce a narcotic or stimulant effect, but a substance already carried by name in the classification decisions is reached without that extension. No per-substance medical route is asserted here.
Documentation
No document makes LSD lawful to carry, and blotter presents a documentation problem of its own because it is inert paper until analysed. Article 20 of Law No. 2313 requires a sample sufficient for analysis to be taken from a seized substance and sent to the relevant laboratory, and confiscation is ordered by the criminal judgeship of peace once the definitive report arrives, so a claim about what a sheet contains is settled by the report and not at the counter. Related molecules in this corpus, including 1P-LSD and LSA, were not confirmed in the decisions and are handled on their own rows. The schedule name was read in the dossier on 18 September 2026 and article 19 was read from the consolidated statute on 20 September 2026.
