Is Kratom legal in France?

Legal status
Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is controlled in France — the plant and both alkaloids, mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, were added to the list of stupefiants/psychotropes by the arrete of 23 December 2019 (in force January 2020); possession and purchase are prohibited under the Public Health Code.
Consequences if caught
Unauthorised possession, use or supply of a listed stupefiant is a criminal offence under the Code de la sante publique (possession/use up to 1 year plus a fine; trafficking far higher).
If prescribed or medical
No lawful medical route — kratom has no French marketing authorisation and is not prescribable.
Documentation
No lawful personal-import route for a listed narcotic plant; there is no traveller allowance.
