Is Hydrocodone legal in Brunei?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 13, 2026
Legal status
Hydrocodone is a Class A controlled drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act (Cap. 27); it is not marketed in Brunei and is absent by name from the capital Second Schedule (which names morphine at over 30 g and heroin), so its drug-specific capital tier is left to confirmation.
Consequences if caught
Trafficking of a capital-scheduled drug is death-eligible on the Singapore model (retentionist in law, abolitionist in practice), but hydrocodone is not named in that Second Schedule; unauthorised handling is otherwise penalised (imprisonment, fine, possible caning).
If prescribed or medical
No marketed hydrocodone product; a Class A opioid is dispensed only under controlled-drug authority.
Documentation
Carry a prescription and original packaging; declare controlled medicines and confirm import rules with the authorities.
