Is Delta-8-THC legal in Thailand?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 14, 2026
Legal status
Controlled by THC content — under the Narcotics Code (B.E. 2564) and the 2022 cannabis reform, any cannabis/hemp EXTRACT containing more than 0.2% tetrahydrocannabinol by weight remains a Category 5 narcotic; delta-8-THC (Δ8-THC) is caught as a tetrahydrocannabinol above that threshold, controlled by its THC content rather than named. Distinct from cannabis buds/plant, largely decriminalised post-2022 subject to tightening rules. No death penalty.
Consequences if caught
A delta-8 extract above 0.2% THC is a Category 5 narcotic — production/import/sale/possession require a licence; unlicensed handling is criminal; importing cannabis products is prohibited.
If prescribed or medical
No recognised medical use for delta-8-THC specifically; only licensed high-THC extracts for defined medical purposes are permitted.
Documentation
No lawful personal import of a >0.2%-THC extract.
