Is CBD legal in Qatar?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 14, 2026
Legal status
CBD (cannabidiol) is controlled as cannabis under Law No. 9 of 1987 — cannabis is a Schedule I narcotic with no hemp/CBD exemption or THC threshold, and possession is lawful only for physician-prescribed personal health use.
Consequences if caught
Seizure at Hamad International, deportation and prosecution, with possession penalties ranging from about 4 years to life plus large fines; the death penalty for aggravated trafficking attaches to trafficking quantities, so CBD-specific capital exposure is left to confirmation.
If prescribed or medical
There is no practical CBD prescription route, and foreign Epidiolex/CBD prescriptions are not honoured without prior MOPH authorisation.
Documentation
No documentation legalises CBD; foreign Epidiolex/CBD prescriptions are not honoured without prior MOPH authorisation.
