Is Amphetamine legal in Syria?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified August 25, 2026
Legal status
Controlled psychotropic. Amphetamine sits in Schedule II of the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances and Syria files annual assessments with INCB under it. The domestic statute is Narcotics Law No. 2 of 1993; no official Syrian publication of its text was reachable during this pass, and it is not carried on UNODC SHERLOC.
Consequences if caught
NOT CONFIRMED from a primary source. The Article 39 capital description previously carried here was sourced to an NGO overview rather than the statute and is withdrawn. Syria is in political transition and enforcement practice is opaque; treat trafficking exposure as severe and unverified.
If prescribed or medical
Prescription availability NOT CONFIRMED. Syria furnished INCB assessments for 13 psychotropic substances for 2026, including methylphenidate at 15,000 g, but furnished no amfetamine and no dexamfetamine assessment. INCB records no licit amphetamine requirement for Syria.
Documentation
The Syrian Ministry of Health site is reachable but is not an allowlisted source for this project, so nothing is quoted from it here. Confirm any controlled-medicine import rule before travel.
