Xylazine (xylazin) is authorised in Sweden as a prescription veterinary medicine (receptbelagt läkemedel för djur, ATC QN05CM92) registered with Läkemedelsverket; it is regulated under medicines law and does not appear on the narkotika classification lists.
Consequences if caught
Unauthorised handling of xylazine is a medicines-law matter rather than a narkotikastrafflag offence, since it is not classified as narkotika.
If prescribed or medical
Dispensed only on a veterinary prescription for sedation/analgesia in animals; xylazine has no approved human indication.
