- Consequences if caught
- Supply of xylazine outside the veterinary prescription channel is a medicines-regulation breach rather than a narcotics offence, since it is not a controlled human substance.
- If prescribed or medical
- Dispensed only against a veterinary prescription for sedation/analgesia in horses, cattle, dogs and cats; no human authorisation for xylazine exists.
- Documentation
- Xylazine products such as XILAGESIC 20 mg/ml solución inyectable hold AEMPS marketing authorisation and appear in the CIMAVET veterinary-medicines register.
