Is Tramadol legal in France?

- Tramadol is a Liste I prescription medicine (substances vénéneuses, Code de la santé publique); since 1 March 2025 it requires a secure prescription form (ordonnance sécurisée) with a 12-week maximum (ANSM).
- Consequences if caught
- Illicit use or possession is an offence under the Public Health Code; trafficking or supply carries multi-year prison terms.
- If prescribed or medical
- Prescribed as a Liste I opioid on a secure prescription form, 12-week maximum.
- Documentation
- Carry the secure prescription with a personal supply; an ANSM transport authorisation may apply beyond roughly a 3-month supply.
