- Possession, supply, trafficking and import of MXE are offences under State/Territory drugs legislation and Commonwealth import law, with penalties scaling to lengthy imprisonment for trafficking and importation.
- If prescribed or medical
- MXE has no registered therapeutic product and cannot be prescribed in Australia (contrast: ketamine, a Schedule 8 controlled medicine).
- Documentation
- There is no legitimate supply; importing MXE without a licence and permit is an offence and consignments are seized by the Australian Border Force.
