Is Mitragynine legal in Singapore?

- Mitragynine, the principal alkaloid of kratom, is a Class A controlled drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act: mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine are the named Class A entity and kratom leaf is prohibited because it contains them, so the alkaloids are controlled together with the plant. Class A carries severe penalties, but kratom's alkaloids are not among the narcotics in the MDA Second Schedule capital-trafficking thresholds, so they are not death-eligible.
