Is Methylphenidate legal in Qatar?
- Legal status
- Scheduled psychotropic (Table 2) under Law No. 9 of 1987 (amended 2023); a controlled medicine requiring prior MOPH authorisation.
- Consequences if caught
- Possession/use: imprisonment + fine. Trafficking of a scheduled psychotropic can be capitally exposed (aggravated/recidivist); methylphenidate is a licit medicine — carry a MOPH permit and prescription.
- If prescribed or medical
- Prescription ADHD/narcolepsy medicine (e.g. Ritalin/Concerta) via controlled channels; carry the original prescription and any required import permit.
