Is Lorazepam legal in Taiwan?
- Legal status
- Lorazepam is a Category 4 (Schedule 4) controlled drug under the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act and the Controlled Drugs Act — the lowest tier.
- Consequences if caught
- Category 4 trafficking/manufacture/transport is 5–12 years (Art. 4(4)); simple small-quantity possession is handled administratively. The death penalty (Art. 4(1)) applies only to Category 1 narcotics — benzodiazepines are not death-eligible.
- If prescribed or medical
- Dispensed as a Category 4 controlled prescription medicine (a licence is needed to import/export).
- Documentation
- Carry a prescription and original packaging.
