Is Etizolam legal in India?

Legal status
Etizolam is a LICENSED prescription medicine in India — a Schedule H drug (Drugs & Cosmetics Rules) widely marketed as Etizest, Etilaam and Etizola. It is NOT under the NDPS Act; it is controlled only as an ordinary prescription drug (its export was banned in April 2021).
Consequences if caught
Only a prescription-medicine offence applies (Schedule H) — etizolam is not a narcotic under the NDPS Act.
If prescribed or medical
Fully licensed and widely prescribed as an ordinary Schedule H medicine.
Documentation
As a licensed Schedule H medicine, carry it in original packaging with your prescription; note export from India is prohibited.
