Is Delta-8-THC legal in Vietnam?
- Legal status
- Controlled — delta-8-THC (Δ8-THC) is caught as a tetrahydrocannabinol under the narcotics/psychotropics lists (Decree 57/2022 and updates), which schedule THC and its isomers; delta-8 is controlled as an isomer of THC (specific entry left to confirmation). Distinct from cannabis (Schedule I). The death penalty for drug offences was ABOLISHED effective 1 July 2025 — now life imprisonment maximum.
- Consequences if caught
- Illegal; long imprisonment. No longer capital since 1 July 2025 (previously drug trafficking was death-eligible).
- If prescribed or medical
- No recognised medical use; delta-8-THC is not a prescribable medicine.
- Documentation
- No lawful personal import of a scheduled narcotic.
