- Buprenorphine is a controlled narcotic under Federal Decree-Law 30/2021 — a 1971 Schedule III opioid, a lighter tier than methadone; capital exposure attaches only where an act is committed with trafficking intent, not to prescribed use.
- Consequences if caught
- Aggravated narcotics trafficking is death-eligible on paper, but that reaches trafficking of narcotic-table substances — prescribed/personal buprenorphine is non-capital (custodial penalties otherwise).
- If prescribed or medical
- Dispensed as a controlled prescription medicine with prior MOHAP approval.
- Documentation
- MOHAP/EDE prior import approval is required even with a prescription; carry an attested prescription/medical report and original packaging.
