Is Barbiturates legal in Poland?
- Legal status
- Barbiturates are psychotropic substances scheduled by compound under the Counteracting Drug Addiction Act (2005) — the medicinal barbiturates in groups III-P/IV-P transposing the 1971 Convention — and are prescription-only.
- Consequences if caught
- Unlawful possession up to 3 years (Art. 62); a small own-use amount may be dismissed.
- If prescribed or medical
- Phenobarbital is prescribed as an antiepileptic (a WHO Essential Medicine); the sedative-hypnotic barbiturates are rarely used.
- Documentation
- Import with a prescription or doctor's statement and a Schengen certificate, in original packaging.
