Legality · 7-Hydroxymitragynine (7-OH)

Is 7-Hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) legal in Netherlands?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 13, 2026
Legal status
Neither 7-hydroxymitragynine nor kratom is scheduled in the Netherlands: 7-OH, a kratom alkaloid, is not on either Opium Act list, so it shares the plant's un-controlled status — limited only by the Warenwet, which bars marketing kratom for human consumption.
Consequences if caught
No Opium Act penalty attaches to the alkaloid; selling kratom for human consumption is restrained under the Warenwet, not the Opiumwet.
If prescribed or medical
No licensed kratom or alkaloid medicine exists; there is no prescription product.
Documentation
No narcotics import controls apply; personal carry is limited only by food-safety marketing rules.
