Is 2C-E legal in Ireland?

- 2C-E is a Schedule 1 controlled drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 and the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2017, caught by the generic ring-substituted phenethylamine definition (any phenethylamine ring-substituted with alkyl/alkoxy/alkylenedioxy/halo groups); its sale and supply are independently criminalised by the blanket Criminal Justice (Psychoactive Substances) Act 2010.
- Consequences if caught
- Possession of 2C-E is an offence under the 1977 Act; supply/trafficking attracts up to life imprisonment, and the 2010 Psychoactive Substances Act adds a separate sale/advertising offence carrying up to 5 years.
- If prescribed or medical
- As a Schedule 1 substance with no accepted medical use, 2C-E may not be prescribed or dispensed and lawful handling requires a Ministerial licence.
- Documentation
- Caught by the phenethylamine generic in the Regulations (mirroring the UK catch) rather than by name, with the 2010 blanket NPS Act as a backstop for sellers.
