Is Synthetic Cannabinoids (K2 / Spice) legal in Pakistan?
- Legal status
- Controlled. Synthetic cannabinoids are controlled under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act 1997 as psychotropic/narcotic substances, incorporating the synthetic cannabinoids added to Schedule II of the 1971 Convention (Pakistan being a party). Capital exposure runs through CNSA s.9's quantity tiers (above 1 kg is death/life-eligible), but whether a synthetic-cannabinoid quantity is treated under that tier is left to confirmation.
- Consequences if caught
- Illegal; possession and trafficking carry quantity-tiered imprisonment under CNSA 1997 s.9, with large quantities death/life-eligible in law. Do NOT carry.
- If prescribed or medical
- These synthetic cannabinoids have no recognised medical use and no lawful prescription route in Pakistan.
- Documentation
- No lawful personal-import route for controlled synthetic cannabinoids; do not carry.
