Is Pregabalin legal in Pakistan?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 14, 2026
Legal status
Pregabalin is a DRAP-registered prescription medicine in Pakistan and, amid documented abuse, is regulated through prescription/sale controls under the Drugs Act 1976 rather than being scheduled as a narcotic under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act 1997 — so no capital tier attaches (and the CNSA maximum is now life imprisonment).
Consequences if caught
Undocumented resale or supply is a Drugs Act offence; pregabalin is not within the CNSA narcotics tiers and is not death-eligible.
If prescribed or medical
Dispensed as a DRAP-regulated prescription medicine.
Documentation
Carry a valid prescription or doctor's letter and personal quantities; confirm current DRAP rules before travel.
