Is Peyote legal in Switzerland?

- Mescaline (Meskalin) is a prohibited narcotic under the BetmVV-EDI narcotics schedule ordinance (SR 812.121.11); Swiss law additionally captures the peyote cactus, mescaline-containing cacti having been added to the controlled list in 2001, so both the plant and the alkaloid are controlled.
- Consequences if caught
- Producing, importing or supplying mescaline or mescaline-containing peyote cactus is a criminal offence under the narcotics legislation.
- If prescribed or medical
- Mescaline is a prohibited narcotic with no routine therapeutic use; peyote is not a prescribable product.
- Documentation
- BetmVV-EDI (SR 812.121.11) lists mescaline among prohibited narcotics; mescaline-containing cacti (peyote) were brought within the controlled raw-materials list from 2001.
