Is Nicotine legal in Qatar?
- Legal status
- Nicotine is legal in Qatar in combustible tobacco and, as a medicine, in nicotine-replacement therapy (pharmacy sale, prescription required), but the nicotine DELIVERY product is banned. Under Law No. 10 on Tobacco Control and Tobacco Derivatives it is illegal to import, sell, purchase or use e-cigarettes, a prohibition rooted in a 2014 Ministry of Public Health import ban. Customs x-ray hand luggage at Hamad International Airport and confiscate devices — a traveler trap.
- Consequences if caught
- Importing, selling, buying or using an e-vaporiser is an offence carrying a fine up to QAR 10,000 or up to three months imprisonment; devices are seized from arriving travelers regardless of personal-use intent.
- If prescribed or medical
- Nicotine-replacement therapy is regulated as a medicinal product and sold in pharmacies on prescription; e-cigarettes have no lawful medical route.
- Documentation
- No import licence exists for personal vapes; travelers should carry none into Qatar.
