Is Methylphenidate legal in Sri Lanka?
- Legal status
- Controlled prescription medicine (Schedule II B, Cosmetics Devices and Drugs Act) / controlled substance under the Poisons, Opium and Dangerous Drugs Ordinance.
- Consequences if caught
- Dispensing/possession without a prescription is a controlled-medicine offence; no capital exposure (the Ordinance's capital list names heroin/cocaine/etc., not methylphenidate; execution moratorium since 1976).
- If prescribed or medical
- Prescription ADHD/narcolepsy medicine (e.g. Ritalin/Concerta) via controlled channels; carry the original prescription and any required import permit.
