Is MDA legal in Vietnam?

- Controlled — MDMA is named in Penal Code art. 251 and MDA falls under 'other solid narcotic' (former death threshold at least 300 g). NAMED mechanism. ABOLISHED: the drug-trafficking death penalty was abolished effective 1 July 2025 — maximum is now life imprisonment; MDA no longer death-eligible.
- Consequences if caught
- Trafficking up to life imprisonment; no longer death-eligible (post-1 Jul 2025).
- If prescribed or medical
- Scheduled narcotic with no recognised medical use; no lawful prescription route.
- Documentation
- No lawful personal import; trafficking now caps at life, not death.
