Is MDA legal in Bahrain?

Legal status

Controlled. MDA is a 1971 Convention Schedule I substance. Bahrain's statute is Law No. (15) of 2007, which controls substances through tables divided into a first group (narcotic drugs) and a second group (psychotropic substances). The official English text ends at the words 'Tables Attached to this Law' and does not reproduce them, so MDA's table placement is left to confirmation - and that placement is decisive, because capital exposure attaches only to specific tables.

Consequences if caught

Article 30(a) of Law No. (15) of 2007 imposes 'the death penalty or life imprisonment and a fine of not less than five thousand dinars and not more than fifty thousand dinars' on anyone who, with intent to traffic, deals in narcotic drugs listed in Tables 1-4 of the first group or psychotropic substances listed in TABLE 1 OF THE SECOND GROUP. Article 30(b) makes the penalty death on recidivism or where the offender is a public employee. A psychotropic substance in Tables 2, 3 or 4 of the second group is NOT within the capital tier - which is why MDA's unpublished table placement cannot be assumed.

If prescribed or medical

No lawful prescription route. MDA is a Schedule I substance under the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances - the schedule reserved for substances with no recognised medical use - and no country anywhere furnished INCB an MDA assessment for 2026, while the closely related MDMA and MDPV each appear dozens of times in the same return. There is no licit MDA supply to prescribe from.
