Khat in Myanmar: not individually verified

Also known as: qat, miraa, quaadka

Not individually verified

We have not confirmed that Khat specifically is scheduled in Myanmar, so this page gives no legal status. Publishing a guess here would be worse than publishing nothing. What we do know is the governing national drug law, below.

What is on record
Not confirmed for khat in Myanmar, and the unresolved question is about the plant rather than its chemistry. Notification 25/2025 names cathinone, which is one of the leaf's two active alkaloids. Cathine was recorded as named in the research log this cell was built from and was not independently read here, so nothing below rests on it. Notification 24/2025 was inspected for Catha edulis and for khat and no plant entry was located. Section 2(a)(i) lets the Ministry declare a plant a narcotic drug by notification, and no such declaration for khat was recovered.

Confirm directly with Myanmar’s national drug authority or your own embassy before you rely on anything.
