Is Hydrocodone legal in Pakistan?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 13, 2026
Legal status
Hydrocodone is a Schedule-I controlled narcotic under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act 1997 (s.9); it is not marketed in Pakistan. The 2022 CNSA amendment (in force 2023) removed the death penalty from s.9, so hydrocodone is not death-eligible (maximum now life imprisonment).
Consequences if caught
Section 9 penalties are graduated by quantity up to life imprisonment for the largest amounts; there is no death tier since the 2023 amendment.
If prescribed or medical
No marketed Pakistani hydrocodone product; a Schedule-I narcotic is dispensed only under narcotic control.
Documentation
Carry a prescription and original packaging; declare controlled medicines.
