Is Etizolam legal in Cuba?

Confirmed against a primary sourceVerified July 13, 2026
Legal status
Etizolam is captured generically by Cuba's Penal Code (Law 151/2022) and controlled-substance rules covering 'narcotics, psychotropic substances and other substances of similar effect'; it is not individually listed.
Consequences if caught
Possession without authorisation ~1–3 years or a fine; trafficking 15–30 years. Aggravated drug trafficking under Law 151/2022 retains the death penalty on paper — the generic 'psychotropic substances' scope would capture etizolam, though sentences are commuted under a de facto moratorium. Treat aggravated trafficking as carrying capital exposure on paper.
If prescribed or medical
Handled generically as a controlled substance; not an individually listed medicine.
Documentation
Carry a prescription and original packaging; declare controlled medicines.
