Is Crack Cocaine legal in Thailand?
- Legal status
- Crack is the freebase (base) form of cocaine and has no separate legal identity in Thailand: it is controlled AS cocaine, a Narcotics Category 2 substance under the Narcotics Code B.E. 2564 (2021), whose entry covers cocaine, its salts and preparations and so reaches the base/freebase form. Crack is controlled identically to cocaine, with medical use only under FDA permit.
- Consequences if caught
- Possession, sale and trafficking of crack (as cocaine) are criminal under the Narcotics Code, carrying imprisonment and fines graded by quantity and intent.
- If prescribed or medical
- Cocaine (Category 2) may be used medically only under a Thai FDA permit; the crack/freebase base has no medicinal preparation and cannot be prescribed.
- Documentation
- No prescription documentation exists for crack/freebase cocaine.
