- Aceh applies Indonesia's national Narcotics Law No. 35 of 2009, under which DMT is a Golongan I narcotic, so the ayahuasca brew as a DMT-containing preparation is prohibited with no religious exemption; in Aceh, narcotics offences fall under national criminal penalties alongside the province's separate Islamic-law enforcement environment.

- As under national law, production, import, possession or trafficking of the DMT-containing ayahuasca brew is a Golongan I offence, with penalties up to death for major trafficking.
- If prescribed or medical
- There is no lawful medical or prescription use of the ayahuasca brew; DMT is a Golongan I narcotic nationwide, including in Aceh.
- Documentation
- The national Narcotics Law No. 35 of 2009 governs Aceh; DMT is listed as Golongan I, and no ayahuasca carve-out exists.
