Is Amphetamine legal in Qatar?
- Legal status
- Scheduled dangerous psychotropic (Table 2) under Law No. 9 of 1987 (amended by Law 16/2023).
- Consequences if caught
- Possession/use: imprisonment + fine (deportation for non-nationals). Trafficking is capitally exposed: DEATH for recidivist/aggravated trafficking of scheduled substances (first-offence trafficking 7–15 years). Amphetamine carries capital exposure at the aggravated tier.
- If prescribed or medical
- Prescription stimulant via strictly controlled medical channels; carrying it without a local permit/prescription risks arrest.
- Documentation
- Qatar retains the death penalty for drug trafficking and for recidivism (including prior foreign convictions). There is zero medical or recreational cannabis (Schedule 4 plants fully prohibited; sharia-influenced). Foreigners are DEPORTED after sentence and embassies are explicitly powerless to intervene; a treatment alternative exists at the Naufar Center. The primary statute sets NO specific per-drug gram threshold. Carry any controlled medicine with its prescription and confirm requirements with your embassy before travel.
