- Licensed with restrictions — alcohol (ethanol) is legal but tightly regulated; Federal Decree-Law No. 15 of 2020 decriminalised private possession and consumption by adults 21+, with licensed sale in most emirates. Sharjah remains a dry emirate.

- No longer a criminal offence to drink privately at 21+; public intoxication, drink-driving and consumption in Sharjah remain punishable. Muslims may still face restrictions.

- Bought at licensed shops, hotels and bars in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and other emirates; tourists may purchase on a passport (2020+ liberalisation), residents via a licence. Sharjah bans sale and consumption outright.
