Is Adderall legal in Mexico?
- Legal status
- Adderall (mixed amphetamine salts) has no separate legal identity — it is regulated AS amphetamine: psychotropic, Grupo II (fracción II) of Art. 245 of the Ley General de Salud; requires a special-control prescription.
- Consequences if caught
- Possession without prescription or supply is criminal under the narcomenudeo regime + Código Penal Federal (multi-year for trafficking/supply).
- If prescribed or medical
- Carry a valid prescription (Spanish) / doctor's letter and original packaging; mailing needs a COFEPRIS permit.
- Documentation
- Carry a doctor's letter/prescription; check COFEPRIS guidance for controlled substances. Note some OTC medicines legal abroad are prohibited in Mexico (e.g. codeine, pseudoephedrine — Actifed/Sudafed/Vicks inhalers). Keep medicines in original packaging.
