Legal status
5-MeO-DMT is a prohibited narcotic in Switzerland — listed by name in the annexes to the Narcotic Substances Ordinance (BetmVV-EDI, SR 812.121.11), in the directory of prohibited substances (Verzeichnis d), added in December 2012.
Consequences if caught
Unauthorised production, import, sale or possession is an offence under the Narcotics Act (BetmG, SR 812.121); unlike many jurisdictions, personal consumption is also punishable.
If prescribed or medical
Prohibited substances are not prescribable; any handling requires an exceptional FOPH authorisation under Art. 8(5) BetmG for research or limited medical use.
