Is 3-MMC legal in India?

- 3-MMC (3-methylmethcathinone) is controlled — added by name as a psychotropic substance under the NDPS Act on 8 Feb 2024, after India emerged as a major 3-MMC manufacturing/export source (enforcement busts in Telangana). This dedicated 2024 listing, not any earlier measure, brought it under control.
- Consequences if caught
- NDPS offences: possession and commercial-quantity trafficking carry severe imprisonment and fines. Not death-eligible for this substance in ordinary cases, though NDPS s.31A permits capital sentencing for certain repeat commercial-quantity trafficking.
- If prescribed or medical
- No recognised medical use and no lawful prescription route.
- Documentation
- No lawful personal-import route for an NDPS psychotropic.
