Xylazine in Kiribati: not individually verified

Not individually verified

We have not confirmed that Xylazine specifically is scheduled in Kiribati, so this page gives no legal status. Publishing a guess here would be worse than publishing nothing. What we do know is the governing national drug law, below.

What is on record
Not confirmed. Xylazine is not named in Schedule 2 of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, Cap. 23, 1977 Revised Edition, as amended 1995 and 2001, and whether any order under section 13(2) was made after 1977 is not established. No entry names xylazine or contains the term thiazine, and section 19 mentioning veterinary surgeons creates no entry for a veterinary drug. That absence does not show that xylazine is uncontrolled, because Schedule 2 can be changed by ministerial order and the orders were not read. The Poisons List does not name it. The Dangerous Drugs Ordinance was read as in force in the 1977 Revised Edition as amended to the Acts of 1995 and 2001, and this text does not rule out a later amendment or a later order under section 13(2).

Confirm directly with Kiribati’s national drug authority or your own embassy before you rely on anything.
