Is Quetiapine legal in Brazil?

- Quetiapine is a registered prescription medicine (medicamento sob prescricao, receita branca controlada C1-adjacent Rx), not a narcotic: fumarato de quetiapina (Seroquel and generics) holds ANVISA registro and is dispensed as an ordinary prescription antipsychotic rather than under the Portaria SVS/MS 344/1998 narcotics/psychotropics tables.

- Quetiapine carries no narcotics-trafficking penalty; unauthorised supply of a prescription medicine is a sanitary-law matter only.
- If prescribed or medical
- Prescribed as an atypical antipsychotic for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder; distributed through SUS under clinical-protocol criteria.
