Nitrous Oxide in Samoa: not individually verified
Also known as: laughing gas, whippets, nangs
We have not confirmed that Nitrous Oxide specifically is scheduled in Samoa, so this page gives no legal status. Publishing a guess here would be worse than publishing nothing. What we do know is the governing national drug law, below.
- What is on record
- Not confirmed. Nitrous oxide is not named in any Schedule of the Narcotics Act 1967; the full text was searched for nitrous oxide, dinitrogen monoxide, N2O, and anaesthetic, and the Narcotics Act itself returned no hits. The Drugs Act 1967's broad medicines framework defines a drug in section 2 to include, at paragraph (e), 'any anaesthetic', which brings an anaesthetic gas such as nitrous oxide within that Act's general medicines oversight, but this is a broad functional definition used for the Drugs Act's own sale prohibition, new drug, and regulation making powers, and it does not itself create a narcotic classification or a standalone consumer possession offence.
Confirm directly with Samoa’s national drug authority or your own embassy before you rely on anything.
