Modafinil in Tonga: not individually verified
Also known as: provigil
We have not confirmed that Modafinil specifically is scheduled in Tonga, so this page gives no legal status. Publishing a guess here would be worse than publishing nothing. What we do know is the governing national drug law, below.
- What is on record
- Not confirmed. Modafinil, searched also as '2-(diphenylmethyl)sulfinylacetamide', was checked against Schedule 1 of the Illicit Drugs Control Act, pages 21 to 23, and against Schedule 2's controlled chemicals list; neither names it. Modafinil is a benzhydryl sulfinylacetamide, built around a sulfinyl (sulfoxide) functional group between two aromatic rings and an acetamide tail; that sulfinyl-acetamide combination does not appear in any named Schedule 1 stimulant, including Amphetamine and Methamphetamine, so no functional-group replacement, ring-structure replacement, hydrogenation or homologue relationship to a named parent could be stated for the 2020 analogue clause.
