- Mitragynine, the principal alkaloid of kratom, is controlled together with the plant in Turkey: kratom and its principal alkaloids were added to the national controlled-substances list (reported 2014), with the alkaloids listed alongside the plant material rather than under a separate isolate regime; manufacture, sale and possession are penalised.
- Consequences if caught
- Manufacture, sale or possession of the controlled substance is penalised under Turkish drug law, with trafficking carrying multi-year terms.
- If prescribed or medical
- No lawful medical route — kratom and its alkaloids have no authorised Turkish medicine.
- Documentation
- No lawful personal-import route for a nationally controlled substance.
