Methylone in Solomon Islands: not individually verified

Also known as: bk-MDMA

Not individually verified

We have not confirmed that Methylone specifically is scheduled in Solomon Islands, so this page gives no legal status. Publishing a guess here would be worse than publishing nothing. What we do know is the governing national drug law, below.

What is on record
Not confirmed. No entry for methylone was found in the instruments read. Searched: the Dangerous Drugs Act (Cap. 98) reprint as in force at 1 October 2009 (text); the schedule to the proclamation of 21 September 1987 (LN 101 of 1987) and the further proclamation LN 6 of 1988 (printed margin note LN 61/1988), read from the page images of printed pages 2821 to 2824 of the 1996 Revised Edition; the Pharmacy and Poisons Act (Cap. 105) reprint as in force at 5 February 2024, including Schedule A and Schedule B (the Poisons List, Parts I and II); the Poisons Rules made under section 61 of that Act, as printed in the 1996 Revised Edition (printed pages 3000 to 3043, margin notes amended to LN 63 of 1988), read from the page images for rules 8 to 13 and 30 to 35, the First Schedule (pages 3013 to 3015), the Third Schedule Group II (page 3017) and every page of the Fourth Schedule of substances sold by retail only on a prescription (pages 3019 to 3042); and the Dangerous Drugs (Methylamphetamine) Rules 2025 (Gazette No. 158, 5 November 2025). Terms searched: methylone, MDMC, 3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylcathinone, methylenedioxy, cathinone, methcathinone, amphetamine, methylamphetamine, mephentermine, methylphenidate. Result: no entry for methylone in the proclamation schedules, the Act, the Poisons List, the Fourth Schedule or the 2025 Rules. 'Cathinone' and 'methcathinone' are not printed in the proclamation lists read. 'Methylamphetamine' is named in paragraph 1 and in the second list, and 'Mephentermine' is a separate entry (page 2822 and Fourth Schedule page 3033). Methylone is not treated as reached by the generic limbs in paragraphs 2 to 5 of the 1987 schedule or as excluded from them, because no instrument read states whether it is a stereoisomer, ester, ether or salt of 'Methylamphetamine'; this reading is outside the instruments and no verdict rests on it; the 2025 Rules define methylamphetamine only. The Poisons List entry 'Amphetamines (beta-aminopropylbenzene and beta-amino-isopropylbenzene)' names two compounds in a parenthesis, and whether its plural heading reaches substituted amphetamines is not stated by the Act, so that reach is open. The control model for dangerous drugs is delegated. Section 2 of the Dangerous Drugs Act defines a dangerous drug as 'any of the substances which may be from time to time subject to the provisions of this Act', and section 13(2) lets the Minister by proclamation apply Part III to further drugs. That power has been exercised (LN 101 of 1987, LN 6 of 1988, and the 2025 Rules made under section 15 and those two proclamations). The reprint carries no line closing its subsidiary legislation, and proclamations or rules made after the 1996 edition, other than the 2025 Rules, were not located. A Dangerous Drugs (Amendment) Bill 2025 is reported as before Parliament; it was not read, and a Bill is not law. Absence from the instruments read is therefore not a finding that methylone is uncontrolled, legal or unregulated, and no verdict is given. Not established: whether any instrument not read names it, or any generic or analogue clause in one.
