Methylone in Kiribati: not individually verified

Also known as: bk-MDMA

Not individually verified

We have not confirmed that Methylone specifically is scheduled in Kiribati, so this page gives no legal status. Publishing a guess here would be worse than publishing nothing. What we do know is the governing national drug law, below.

What is on record
Not confirmed. Methylone is not named in Schedule 2 of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, Cap. 23, 1977 Revised Edition, as amended 1995 and 2001, and whether any order under section 13(2) was made after 1977 is not established. No cathinone type compound and no methylenedioxy compound is named in the Ordinance, so methylone has no Schedule 2 entry to quote. This is a gap in what was read and not a finding that methylone is lawful or unregulated, because Schedule 2 moves by order. The Poisons List does not name methylone, and whether its Amphetamines entry on page 28 reaches a substituted cathinone is not stated, so the reach is open. The Dangerous Drugs Ordinance was read as in force in the 1977 Revised Edition as amended to the Acts of 1995 and 2001, and this text does not rule out a later amendment or a later order under section 13(2).
