Is Methaqualone (Quaaludes) legal in Singapore?

- Methaqualone is a Class C controlled drug in Part III of the First Schedule to the Misuse of Drugs Act — the named transposition of its 1971 Convention Schedule II status; a withdrawn hypnotic with no marketed medical use, historically abused in Singapore before the Act.
- Consequences if caught
- Unauthorised possession or consumption carries imprisonment and fines (and caning for certain offences); trafficking a Class C drug carries imprisonment and caning (the mandatory capital penalty applies only to the highest Class A quantities, not Class C).
- If prescribed or medical
- No recognised medical use / withdrawn — methaqualone is not a lawful prescription medicine.
- Documentation
- No medical or traveller route; there is no legitimate prescription supply.
