Mephedrone (4-MMC) in Samoa: not individually verified
Also known as: meow meow
We have not confirmed that Mephedrone (4-MMC) specifically is scheduled in Samoa, so this page gives no legal status. Publishing a guess here would be worse than publishing nothing. What we do know is the governing national drug law, below.
- What is on record
- Not confirmed. Mephedrone (4-methylmethcathinone) is not named by that name. Second Schedule item 2 names "Methcathinone" as a Class B narcotic, and mephedrone is methcathinone with a ring methyl group added at a different ring position from 3-MMC's, giving the same altered formula (methcathinone is C10H13NO; mephedrone is C11H15NO), so it is not an isomer of the named entry and the Second Schedule's isomer, ester, ether, salt and proportion clauses (B to E) do not reach it on that structural reasoning. Mephedrone and 3-MMC are themselves positional isomers of each other, and both happen to share that formula with the unrelated morpholine stimulant PHENMETRAZINE (Second Schedule item 112, Class B). Whether the Second Schedule's isomer clause reaches any same-formula compound, rather than only variants of the one named structure, is the same open question that arises for 3-MMC under the Act, and it is not resolved here either.
