Is MDA legal in United Arab Emirates?

- Controlled. MDA is a Schedule I substance under the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances, and the UAE's governing statute is Federal Decree-Law No. 30 of 2021 on Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, which criminalises production, import, export, transport, purchase, sale, possession and storage outside supervised medical or scientific activity.
- Consequences if caught
- Zero tolerance; trace amounts are prosecuted. CAPITAL EXPOSURE NOT CONFIRMED: the UAE government's own published account of Federal Decree-Law 30/2021 sets out the control framework but states no death penalty, and the consolidated statute text on uaelegislation.gov.ae is behind a bot challenge. The death-eligibility previously asserted here rested on an NGO overview and has been withdrawn pending a primary text.
- If prescribed or medical
- No lawful prescription route. MDA is a Schedule I substance under the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances - the schedule reserved for substances with no recognised medical use - and no country anywhere furnished INCB an MDA assessment for 2026, while the closely related MDMA and MDPV each appear dozens of times in the same return. There is no licit MDA supply to prescribe from.

- No lawful personal import. Narcotic and psychotropic medicines of controlled classes A and B cannot be freely imported and require a Ministry of Health and Prevention permit; MDA has no such route.
