Is Hydrocodone legal in Maldives?
- Legal status
- Hydrocodone is a controlled substance under the Drug Act 17/2011; it is not marketed in the Maldives. The Third Amendment (2025) makes any Schedule 1 drug death-eligible above 100 g, but whether hydrocodone is listed in Schedule 1 is left to confirmation — so its drug-specific capital tier is left to confirmation (de facto moratorium since 1954).
- Consequences if caught
- Schedule 1 trafficking above threshold is death-eligible (requiring a unanimous Supreme Court bench to execute); otherwise imprisonment and fines apply, and hydrocodone's Schedule-1 listing is left to confirmation.
- If prescribed or medical
- No marketed Maldivian hydrocodone product; a controlled narcotic is dispensed only under narcotic control.
- Documentation
- Carry a prescription and original packaging; declare controlled medicines and confirm import rules with the MFDA.
