Etizolam in Samoa: not individually verified

Not individually verified

We have not confirmed that Etizolam specifically is scheduled in Samoa, so this page gives no legal status. Publishing a guess here would be worse than publishing nothing. What we do know is the governing national drug law, below.

What is on record
Not confirmed. Etizolam is not named in the First, Second or Third Schedule (Class A, B or C narcotics respectively) to the Narcotics Act 1967, the official version as at 31 December 2023. A case insensitive search of the full cached text of the Act, including the chemical and common name terms "etizolam" and "thienodiazepine", returned no match in any Schedule. The Fourth Schedule, controlled precursors, also does not name it. Etizolam is a thienodiazepine, chemically distinct from the triazolo and other classic benzodiazepines named individually in the Third Schedule (items 13 to 62); it is not an isomer, ester, ether or salt of any of those named compounds, so the Schedule's own extension clauses do not reach it either. The Narcotics Act 1967 (1967 No. 3), the official version as at 31 December 2023, is the authority for the position stated. Whether a later Gazette amendment or a Head of State Order under section 5 of the Act has varied it since that date could not be established from the sources searched this session, so the position given is as at the version read and is not asserted as current beyond it.
