Is Crack Cocaine legal in Maldives?

- Crack is the freebase (base) form of cocaine and has no separate legal identity in the Maldives: it is controlled AS cocaine, a Schedule 1 drug under the Drugs Act (Act No. 17/2011), whose schedule covers cocaine, its salts and preparations and thus reaches the base/freebase form. The trafficking regime is measured by weight/schedule and carries over to crack, so trafficking a Schedule 1 drug carries the mandatory base term (20 years, elevated by aggravation) whether powder or base.

- Trafficking crack (as cocaine) as a Schedule 1 drug carries a mandatory 20-year base term (elevated by aggravating factors under the 2025 Third Amendment); lesser possession draws imprisonment or rehabilitation.
- If prescribed or medical
- Cocaine has no recognised therapeutic use in the Maldives; the crack/freebase base has no medicinal preparation and cannot be prescribed.
- Documentation
- No prescription documentation exists for crack/freebase cocaine.
